Malacañang Suspends Classes On Tuesday (March 20)

Malacañang Palace has announced the suspension of classes in all level on Tuesday (March 20, 2018) due to possible transport strike.

On Tuesday, the classes in all levels throughout the entire Metro Manila has been suspended by the Malacañang Palace due to the threat of possible transport strike.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque announced the suspension of classes even the transport group Pinagkaisang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operator Nationwide (Piston) canceled the strike.

Roque said that his statement was based on the instructions of President Rodrigo Duterte who wants to ensure that safety of the students.

“The President has instructed that he will suspend classes even with the slightest threat of a strike to ensure the protection and well-being of students,” Roque said.

PISTON’s threat of transport strike might possibly cause the suspensions of classes starting today March 20 up to March 23 (Friday).

The transport strike was the move of several transport groups to express their opposition to the jeepney phase-out, which would put their livelihood at stake.
